Jean-Michel Mathieux-Marie
Un des plus grands maîtres de la pointe sèche actuellement en France. Connu pour ses paysages de Paris, plein de fantasmagorie et de symbolisme, il a également réalisé des vues de Venise et de New York. argaiv1899
Jean-Michel Mathieux Marie est né en 1947 à Paris. Élève en architecture à l'école des Beaux-Arts de Paris, à l'âge de 27 ans, il s'est initié à la gravure à l'atelier de Delpech.
Depuis, l'artiste a créé plus de 200 planches qu'il imprime lui-même sur sa presse à bras. Ses oeuvres ont fait l'objet de nombreuses expositions en France et à l'étranger en particulier au Musée Baron Gérard de Bayeux en 1993 et à la Royale Académie des Beaux Arts de Madrid en 1989.
De nombreuses gravures ont été réalisées par l'artiste pour des ouvrages de bibliophilie comme “Le parti pris des choses” de Francis Ponge, 1992; “Canéphore de cauchemar” de Federico Garcia Lorca, 1987; “La Route” de Julien Gracq, 1984.
Ces ouvrages se trouvent dans les Bibliothèques Nationales de France et d'Espagne, à la bibliothèque historique de la Ville de Paris et à la Bibliothèque de
Bayeux. La galerie de Paris présente “les Etats” et les “Etats” rehaussés à la gouache blanche, qui représente des pièces de collection exceptionnelles par leurs qualité et de par leur rareté.
Les très rares trio de trois états de la même gravure, les états permettant dévoiler le mystère de la naissance de la Pointe Sèche - technique
aujourd’hui presque disparue - sont à découvrir dans la Galerie de Paris.

He use a diamond point to scratch an image into a steel plate. One of the most famous masters of the dry point in France. Known for its landscapes of Paris, full of phantasmagoria and symbolism, he has also painted views of Venice and New York.
Jean-Michel Mathieux Marie was born in 1947 in Paris. Pupil of architecture at the Academy of Fine Arts in Paris, at the age of 27, he got involved in engraving at the workshop of Delpech. Since, the artist created more than 200 works.
He has participated in a great number of exhibitions in France and abroad (the Museum Baron Gerard in Bayeux in 1993, the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Madrid in 1989…).
Some of his engravings are devoted to the Bible scenes. His works can be found in the National Libraries of France and Spain, at the historical library of the City of Paris and at the Library of Bayeux.
